The course aims at introducing the student to tools for feminist interpretations of architecture that may in an extended sense serve to create new architectures.

Schedule: Course runs on Thursdays, beginning October 1st ending Dec 10th 2009. Optional study trip to Berlin is planned for week 44.

Locations: The lectures will normally take place at the KTH School of Architecture, Östermalmsgatan 26, room A4. On Nov 12th we will meet up in Tensta Gymnasium.

Course requirements: Attendance and active participation in lectures and workshops, presentation of assignment for Dec 17^th

Under kursen kommer vi att studera den samtida feministiska teoribildningen och undersöka hur hus och andra byggda strukturer förhåller sig till den. Vi ska ägna oss åt feministisk kritik av arkitekturens kultur och dess förhållande till sexualitet, etnicitet och klass och som vidmakthållare av en normativ maskulinistisk smak. Kursen är uppbyggd kring en serie begrepp, heteronormativitet, genusperformance, intersektionalitet m.fl., som behandlas i relation till arkitektur.
